Understanding The Maintenance Of An Airline

Executive summary By Eric Simmons

Many people including fearful fliers are perplexed over the governments fines to Southwest airline for failure to properly inspect their aircraft. Many people feel like theres’ a lack of trust with the airlines & FAA.

Just yesterday, Southwest Airlines decided to ground 40 airplanes to do further inspection. Airline passengers have a right to be safe when they fly. The FAA assign every airline in this country with a POI Principle Operations Inspector. The FAA will occasionally send an AD Airworthiness Directive to the airlines or aircraft manufactures’ when an aircraft maintenance issue comes up. An AD is mandatory. If you don’t fix the aircraft by the deadline of the AD then that aircraft is unairworthy.

:?This mandatory inspection varies from airline to airline. Every aircraft from a Cessna to a B-747 has an aircraft maintenance logbook. It still grounds the aircraft into a maintenance tech fixes it & signs it off. Every airline must do this check. This check is required at a certain amount hours flown for an aircraft. The airline system is safe.

Travel tip – How do you Lodge a Formal Complaint with an Airline?

Executive summary By Jawahn Thompson

Haven’t you heard about 911, airlines in bankruptcy, employee layoffs, overworked flight attendants? Of Course, we don’t have any magazines. Complain.

::)it would have done my friend no good to complain to the flight attendant. Situations like this are best left to filing a formal complaint with the airline after the air travel experience is done. Your flight information so that the airline knows exactly which flight you were on and which seat you were sitting in

Focused details about your complaint. Include the names of any airline employees who were rude, disrespectful or just plain made the situation worse. Sometimes, your complaint has nothing to do with employee conduct.

If you are a frequent traveler with that airline, state it in the letter. If the experience has made you rethink your relationship with the airline, state that also. Send a copy of your complaint to The Department of Transportation and the Aviation Consumer Action Project and let the airline know you’re doing so.

Address the letter to the attention of the Aviation Consumer Protection Division. Don’t get greedy, however. Before writing a formal letter of complaint, you may try making a phone call to complain and remedy your situation, but most experts agree that writing a formal letter of complaint is a much more effective way of getting satisfaction from the airline.

If you have not heard from the airline within 30 days of your initial complaint, resend the letter. Unfortunately for my friend with the disappointing first class experience, the complaints were heard by friends but never by the airline.
