A steady stream of construction job seekers walks through the door at SOS Staffing at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday afternoon, an hour when skilled tradesmen and general laborers are traditionally on the job.

Two years ago, construction in the residential and commercial sectors was booming. Residential building permits totaled 4,200 for the year and El Paso County registered more than $1 billion of value in new construction projects. With construction at near record levels, anyone who wanted to work could find a job.:))

SOS Staffing works with about 20 construction companies, and placements have started to pick up during the last couple of months, Atkinson said.
