Five Excellent Museums of North Western Wyoming

Executive Summary By Lee Everton

If you are traveling into northwestern Wyoming and you need a break, you might find these museums to be of interest. Often, the museums are housed in relatively small buildings (unlike the Smithsonian Institute Museums) and are a great place to pass an afternoon.

Buffalo Bill Historical Center

An amazing historical center with five museums under one roof. These museums include: Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Whitney Gallery of Western Art, Cody Firearms Museum and Draper Museum of Natural History. This museum has grown over the years. The first time that I visited the Buffalo Bill Museum, it was a rather small building with interesting items that centered around western life and Buffalo Bill … look at you now!

National Museum of Wildlife Art

When thinking of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, there is always the thought of the wild west.

Museum of the Mountain Man

Discover the romantic era of the Mountain Man. Pinedale, Wyoming is in the heart of the country that was the hub of the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous system. Exhibits include Jim Bridgers rifle, Buffalo Hide Tipi, Sheephorn Bow and Mountain Man Camp. The museum is located at 700 East Hennick, Pinedale, Wyoming.

Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center

Off the beaten path in Wyoming, you will discover this museum covers Wyoming Outlaws; Indians of Western Wyoming; the town of Thermopolis; coal mining exhibits; oil and gas; and wildlife. The museums of Wyoming cover a wide range of interests.

National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center

I have been fortunate to spot some of the sheep as I was driving (riding) on some of the less traveled roads. They are a majestic animal with agility that is unsurpassed. With exhibits that teach about all of the bighorn sheep found in the Rocky Mountains and other sheep from around the world, this is a great time for the entire family.

Your Local Natural History Museum is an Educational and Fascinating Place to Take the Kids

Executive Summary By Carolyn McFann

:$The Natural History Museum is a whole world of wonder for both parents and kids. Most major cities have their own museum, such as the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, or the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh (two of my favorites.) Paleontology – The study of dinosaurs other prehistoric creatures

:xGreat fun for any child who loves prehistoric stuff. Archeology – Studying the ancient history of humans and their cultures. At the Carnegie Natural History Museum, you can actually watch the archeologists work on digging out artifacts out of a big, block of dirt. Zoology- Plant and animal exhibits

Animal lovers will feel right at home here. Dioramas and sometimes live animal exhibits are fun ways for kids to see what the world of animals is all about. Geology, or the scientific study of how the world works. Give your family a fun-filled day at your local Natural History Museum. Browse their gift shops for nature and scientific gifts.
